Abstract

Pressure-sensitive safety switch detects the absence of water in domestic appliances, such as dish-washers and driers. A membrane acting at least indirectly on a switch is subjected to water pressure on one side, and to the action of a compression spring on the other. Subjected to a pressurised feed of water, the membrane is deformed towards the spring, a magnet is displaced, and this opens a protective gas contact. A drop in pressure causes the gas contact to close. The structure of the switch is simple, and responds to slight pressure changes.
