Abstract

Anchorage points for the side arms of spectacles are made from ductile rod by flattening and bending the end to form a loop of material having a section different from that of the rest of the rod. The loop may be closed by a brazed or welded joint between the tip of the flattened portion and the neck of the rod. Pref. the modified profile is subsequently heat treated to reduce hardening/embrittlement induced by cold forging the loop.

Description

The present invention relates to an anchoring arm for side plates of spectacle frames, having, at its free end, a loop whose section differs from that of said anchoring arm.

The German utility model NO 79 13 002 described an anchoring arm for spectacle frames, the free end of which is in the form of a loop. This should make it unnecessary to have the necessary brazing usually used to secure the loop and the anchor arm. The drawback of this embodiment of the anchoring arm lies in the presence of the open elastic loop, from which it follows that the side plate fixed in this loop is not held in place in a sufficiently secure manner.

The present invention therefore relates to an anchoring arm for side plates of spectacle frames designed so that, while being simple to perform, it allows a secure, but removable connection between said anchoring arm and its plate associated lateral.

According to the essential characteristics of the invention, the region constituting the loop forms a single block with the anchoring arm, and this region, elastically deformed, has a section different from the base section of said arm.

In another embodiment according to the invention, the material of which the anchoring arm is made (preferably of round configuration) can be elastically deformed, for example flattened by pressure, in the region intended to form the loop, then be subjected to a heat treatment reducing its hardening resulting from cold forming, then being bent to form the loop, and finally being welded or brazed between the end face of the elastically deformed region and the anchoring arm. In this case, said end face can be adapted substantially to the shape of the surface of the anchoring arm located opposite.

The advantages obtainable by the present invention reside in the fact that, in addition to an inexpensive embodiment of the anchoring arm in a single block, it is also possible, by giving the loop the shape of a frame, of '' get a connection between the anchor arm and the side plate, either by conventional screws or by conformation.

In a particularly inexpensive embodiment, it is not necessary to fix individual members to each other during welding or soldering. Thus, the receiving members of an automatic production machine can be made more simple, requiring less maintenance and having better reliability.

la figure 1 est une vue en élévation du bras d'ancrage et de la boucle;
la figure 2 est une coupe selon la ligne II-II de la figure 1;
la figure 3 est une élévation latérale correspondant à la figure 1;
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the attached drawing by way of non-limiting examples and in which
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the anchor arm and the loop;
Figure 2 is a section along the line II-II of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a side elevation corresponding to Figure 1;
Figure 4 is an elevational view of the round section material and the region elastically deformed to form the loop; and
FIG. 5 is a side elevation corresponding to FIG. 4.

FIG. 1 illustrates an anchoring arm 1 secured to a closed loop 2.

Figure 2 is a section along line II-II of Figure 1, showing, in its upper part, an advantageous conformation of an end face 3 of the loop 2 allowing welding to the anchoring arm 1 and, in its lower part, another conformation of an end face 4, particularly suitable for allowing such welding.

Figure 3, which is a side elevation corresponding to Figure I, shows the anchor arm 1 and the loop 2, as well as a hole 5 and a thread 6 intended for fixing a side plate.

Figures 4 and 5 show a material 7 of round section which, intended to allow the realization of the anchoring arm 1 (Figure 1), is elastically deformed, for example flattened by pressure, in a region 8 intended to form the loop 2 (figure 1).

It goes without saying that numerous modifications can be made to the anchoring arm and to its manufacturing process described and shown, without going beyond the ambit of the invention.
