Abstract

Pastes for applicn. to the mucous membranes contain 20% pectin, 20% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, a 2% soln. of which has a viscosity of 300 centipoises plus or minus 5 centipoises, and 60% vaseline. The pastes may contain any of the following as active ingredients: Fluorides, antimycotics, anaesthetics, antibiotics, antiseptics, vegetable extracts, antiflammatories and anti-enzyme agents. Compsn. has very good adherence to wet surface e.g. the mouth and gums.
