Abstract

A waterproof textiles laminate, for use in sailing clothes, comprises two layers of elastic textile material (1,2) between which is inserted a microporous film of polyurethane to confer the waterproofing. In a multi-layer assembly, layers of polyurethane foam, are introduced between the textile and the film, and are flamed to melt them before laminating. A supple, elastic waterproof offers protection to the wind also. It may be produced industrially, in a process which avoids the exposure of operatives to isocyanate fumes during its assembly.

Description

la présente invention a pour objet un article textile élastique dans les deux sens, utilisable notamment pour la confection d'articles étanches à l'eau tels que combinaisons et vAtements pour la pratique de la planche à voile, surfing, dériveur et autres sports analogues. the present invention relates to a textile article elastic in both directions, usable in particular for the manufacture of waterproof articles such as coveralls and clothing for the practice of windsurfing, surfing, dinghy and other similar sports.

Currently, this type of clothing used, consists of rigid textile bands between which is inserted by gluing, during manufacture, a neoprene plate of about three millimeters thick, ensuring the thermal insulation of the user, facing the water and the wind.

la réalisation de cet article présente certains incon vénients - tors de sa confection manuelle, il se produit un dégagement de vapeurs toxiques isocyanates dues à la colle d'assemblage des bandes textiles extérieure et intérieure sur la plaque néoprèn.e - Te vêtement utilisé présente une contexture rigide, et de ce fait, est pénible à porter et à supporter au niveau des articu lattions - D'autre part, la combinaison n'étant pas suffisamment élastique, il est difficile de l'enlever, et son traitement isothermique est une gêne pour l'utilisateur en périodes estivales. the realization of this article presents certain inconvenient inconveniences - tors of its manual preparation, there is a release of toxic isocyanate vapors due to the adhesive of assembly of the external and internal textile bands on the neoprene plate. - The garment used presents a rigid texture, and therefore, is painful to wear and bear at the level of the articu lattions - On the other hand, the suit is not sufficiently elastic, it is difficult to remove it, and its isothermal treatment is a nuisance for the user in summer periods.

According to the invention, these drawbacks are remedied by producing a very flexible article, which can be manufactured industrially, said article being waterproof and ensuring protection of the user against the wind.

According to a first characteristic of the invention, the textile article is characterized in that it consists of two elastic textile bands in both directions (1 - 2), between which is inserted, by means of a binder assembly, at least one microporous film (3) ensuring the water tightness of the final product.

According to another characteristic, the textile article is characterized in that it comprises two compounds each consisting of a textile strip (12 - 13), assembled to a microporous film (11 - 14) by means of a binder such as polyurethane foam (10 - 15), after flame and fusion thereof; the two aforementioned compounds are then assembled by flame and fusion of an intermediate polyurethane foam (16).

These characteristics and others will emerge clearly from the following description.

To properly fix the object Qe the invention, without however lintering it, to the fies of the drawing where
Figure 1 is a sectional view of the textile article according to the invention

In order to make the object of the invention more concrete, it is now described in a nonlimiting manner, with reference to the exemplary embodiments illustrated in the figures of the drawing.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, the textile article consists of two elastic textile bands in both directions, 1 - 2, between which a microporous film 3 of polyurethane is inserted, ensuring the water-tightness of the final product. The manufacturing process for the item is as follows:
In a first phase, an assembly binder such as polyurethane foam 4 stored in rolls, is conveyed to calenders 5, at the same time as the strip 1 and the film 3 also stored in rolls. melts the foam 4 which is then boiled, towards the calenders, for the assembly of the first textile strip 1 on the film 5. Then, the compound obtained 7 is assembled, as illustrated in FIG. 3, with another textile strip 2, elastic in both directions, in the same way, after flaming 9 with a new layer of polyurethane foam 8.

The article obtained (FIG. 1) is waterproof while retaining a textile appearance on both sides, while remaining elastic. After tests, it was found that the elasticity of the article was approximately 45 percent. in both ways.

The microporous polyurethane film has a thickness of approximately 25 microns; the final product is therefore of a very reduced thickness, essentially limited to the thickness of the textile bands. the garment obtained from this article, is moreover, of a light wearing and easily removable, without any discomfort due to its elasticity. It also guarantees a certain degree of insulation, which is very largely sufficient in summer.

The waterproof article may have a plastic appearance on one side and a textile appearance on the other, while remaining elastic.

We can also obtain a more complex product illustrated in FIG. 4.

Glue and melt a polyurethane foam 10, a microporous polyurethane film li about 25 microns thick, on an elastic fabric 12. An identical operation is carried out with another fabric 13, using a film 14 and a foam 15; then, the two compounds obtained above are assembled by flame and fusion of a polyurethane foam 16.

The resulting article has a greater thickness, in order to increase the thermal insulation of the suit.

According to another characteristic illustrated in Figure 5, when making the garment such as sports suit and other applications, the sewing operations can be performed for shaping the garment, by an ultrasonic welding device, at high frequency , or other welding processes.

Alternatively, additional seams 17 can be made on the surface of the article obtained, illustrated in FIG. 1 or 3, by ultrasound, so as to give the final product a particular quilted appearance. This forms, on the body of the article, sealed pockets P, thereby improving the thermal characteristics of the product. It is quite obvious that the shapes of the pockets can be variable according to the needs of the user and places of the article. The unfortunate perforation of one of the pockets does not have disproportionate consequences as for the losses of thermal sealing of the whole article.

The novelty of such an elastic textile article in both directions, - its low manufacturing cost, - its numerous applications for making waterproof clothing. water, for the practice of certain nautical sports, - the use of a microporous film allows the circulation of air and facilitates the elimination of perspiration, which is not the case with current products.

la nature des matériaux constituant le film microporeux et les liants d'assemblage tels que mousses de polyuréthanne sont donnés à titre indicatif d'une réalisation et ne sont nullement limitatifs. the nature of the materials constituting the microporous film and the assembly binders such as polyurethane foams are given as an indication of an embodiment and are in no way limiting.

The invention is in no way limited to that of these modes of application, nor to those of the embodiments of these various parts having been more especially indicated, on the contrary it embraces all variants.
