Abstract

The warning device for a vehicle's fuel tank cap provides a signal to warn of either attempted theft of fuel, or the incomplete refitting of the cap after filling the tank. The cap itself has a small magnet attached to its rim, so that it comes to rest in a particular position relative to the fuel tank inlet pipe (5), when the cap is correctly fitted. Near to the top of the inlet pipe there is a magnetic reed switch (8) which is closed when the cap is correctly fitted, but which is otherwise open. The reed switch forms part of a transistor oscillator circuit providing an audible alarm signal when the switch is changed. The position of the magnet, and the reed switch under the edge of the fuel cap is such that they cannot be seen when the cap is in position.

Actuellement la fermeture du réservoir est assurée par un bouchon muni d'une languette métallique et d'un joint de caoutchouc . Ce système ne comportant aucun vérrouillage , une rotation insuffisante lors de la mise en place est très souvent à l'origine de la perte du bouchon et d'une partie du carburant contenu dans le réservoir
D'autre part , la majorité des voitures étant stationnées sur des parkings extérieurs , les vols de carburant sont de plus en plus fréquents G
On connait aussi d'autres dispositifs de fermeture à clé . Réalisé en alliage léger , ils sont très vulnérables; facilement fracturés , ils n'offrent qu'une protection aléatoire

Un interrupteur général non représenté permet , en position repos la mise hors circuit de l'ensem- ble ten position 1 la mise en marche du témoin sonore intérieur , en position 2 le couplage du circuit sur l'a larme extérieure
