Abstract

In the parent patent a cosmetic prod. is described which is made without incipient or preservative. The prod. is presented as a frozen tablet or block of natural, organic substances which have received no chemical treatment. The tablet is for direct application to the skin where the vaso-constrictive effect of the low temp. enhances the action of the cosmetic substances. In this addn. the frozen tablet is made of cosmetic substances which have been subjected to chemical and/or physical treatment and which can contain excipients, preservatives and/or perfumes. Pref. the prod. is based on mixes, emulsions or suspensions of materials which would normally be unstable or incompatible in combination. This prod. now contains a small proportion of anti-oxidants, preservatives, emulsifiers etc. in particular. The prod. may contain unsaturated fats. The prod. are pref. moulded in closed moulds, partic. moulds designed for the mfr. of iced lollies and having a handle by which the tablet can be manipulated when taken from the refergerator and demoulded. Useful in cosmetic substances additives such as stabilisers, preservatives etc. The introduction of perfumes is now accepted.

Description

 The main patent relates to cosmetic products free from any excipient and any preservative, composed of pure cosmetic substances or combinations of pure cosmetic substances, characterized in that they are in the form of frozen blocks or loaves of these products. substances which have not undergone any chemical treatment, these blocks or loaves being directly applicable to the skin and allowing each of the multiple applications, the vaso-constrictor action of the cold being added to the action proper of these cosmetic substances, thus ensuring their rapid penetration into the epidermis.

 The idea of this patent was to protect a new and original mode of application of pure cosmetic products based on natural organic components of animal, vegetable or mineral origin, products which, for some, like substances taken from the pockets fetuses, must necessarily be kept cold by their preparation.

 The present inventors have found that such a presentation of cosmetic substances is generally advantageous for all substances having an action in the field of cosmetology, and for their associations, even those containing excipients, adjuvants (preservatives, stabilizers ...), perfumes, etc ...

 This is the subject of this certificate of addition.

 Various problems of preparation and preservation which may arise and which the present certificate of addition makes it possible to solve will be set forth below for different types of cosmetic substances.

 The creators of cosmetics, perfumery and hygiene are frequently limited, in the design of their formulas, by the impossibility of maintaining stable over time the mixtures or emulsions of substances whose properties they seek to associate, for the purpose to obtain a product having the desired characteristics.

 Often, certain fatty substance mixtures, particularly beneficial for the skin, do not have the texture or the desired consistency at room temperature and the formulator must, in order to harden them, raise the melting point of the mixture by the addition of waxes. natural or synthetic whose presence is not justified in terms of effectiveness.

 Similarly, the emulsions, of widespread use in cosmetology, require to remain stable, the presence of emulgateursenquantités notables, which is not always desirable for the dermatological quality of the finished product.

 Finally, whether mixtures of fatty substances or emulsions, the raw materials used are most often subject to rancidity, by oxidation on contact with air, at room temperature. It can currently be avoided only by the addition of antioxidants and preservatives, products that are increasingly subject to criticism and regulation.

 The present invention gives the formulator the possibility of maintaining in the stable state physical systems which are not in the usual conditions of use for the users.

The process for packaging these blocks or loaves, which is also the subject of the present invention, consists in casting or compressing into appropriate molds the selected cosmetic substance or the chosen combination of cosmetic substances, and to refrigerate rapidly and intensively until complete freezing, between -250C and -800C (dry ice),
In the case of cosmetic products other than pure products, the mixing, emulsification or suspension of the raw materials must first be carried out, if necessary, by appropriate mechanical means (turbines, kneaders, ultrasounds) while maintaining the mixture constituents at a temperature close to the limit of its point of solification, the mixture can be cast as soon as the homogenization is sufficient.

 The conditions of conservation and use of these cosmetic blocks as well as the vaso-constrictor effect on application have been described in the main patent.

 An appropriate formulation makes it possible to obtain a melting and unctuous product on contact with the skin with a texture similar to a food ice cream.

The advantages of this process are as follows - possibility of associating immiscible constituents with
room temperature, - possibility of very significantly reducing and thereby of suppressing
totally stability adjuvants, such as emulsions
antioxidants and converters, - no restrictions on the use of unsaturated
particularly beneficial for the skin and whose peroxy
fast dation at room temperature makes the job very
difficult, - presentation in solid and stable form of a product
solid which takes its consistency of use in contact with
the skin.

By way of non-limiting examples, mention may be made of the following formulas of preparations which, normally, are not stable over time at ambient temperature and which may be presented in the form of solid frozen breads by using a manufacturing method according to US Pat. the invention

The following procedure can advantageously be used: 10) The raw materials of phase I are weighed, melted
and mixed with a propeller or turbine stirrer,
in a container that can then be cooled
up to -300C by a suitable device. We keep
this phase about 600C.

20) - The constituents of phase II are weighed and mixed
at room temperature with a propeller stirrer,
moderate speed. In the case of formula A, it can be
necessary to heat the deionized water
800C to dissolve the preservative, then cool
the solution until about 500C before introducing the acid
polyacrylic. In the case of formula D, for the
phase II, it suffices to weigh the deionized water, since
this raw material is the only component of this
phase.

30) - Phase II is heated to 600C.

40) - Phase II is added to phase I maintained at 600C, and
mixes the phases with rapid stirring of the
turbine or propeller.

50) - Cooling of the mixture is started with stirring.

60) - When the temperature has dropped to around 300C
approximately, add the constituents of phase III,
previously weighed, to the mixture (phase I + phase II).

70) - As soon as the mixture is homogeneous, and before it becomes
solidifies and sinks in molds of appropriate shape,
previously cooled to OOC.

80) - The mussels are immediately placed in a freezer
and kept at temperatures that can be included
between -250C and -800C.

90) - When the breads are solidified, we can proceed to
demolding and demolded loaves are preserved in the
freezer maintained at temperatures that can be
between -25 C and 800 C. The cold chain
obviously should not be broken up until
use.

 In the accompanying drawing, there are shown three possible examples of molds for cosmetic loaves according to the invention.

 FIGS. 1 and 2 show a substantially parallelepipedic mold, respectively in elevation and in profile, FIG. 3 shows a frustoconical mold and FIG. 4 a receptacle for a "stick" or cylindrical case of the type of those of lipstick tubes or blushes or solid deodorants, the user out of the case out the upper end of the block to each application.

 The molds 1 (FIGS. 1 and 2) are capable of being closed by a lid 2 carrying a tongue 3 on the outside so that it can be gripped without contact with the cosmetic substances, and internally a support 4 of the block frozen cosmetic 5.

 In the case of the "stick", the frozen block is likely to progress outside its cylindrical receptacle 6 at the center of which is disposed a screw 7 operable by a button 8 located at the base of the cylinder 6. The block 5 is maintained at its lower part by a base 9 and is guided in its vertical displacement by vertical internal ribs 10 of the cylinder 6. The assembly is protected by a cap 11.

Claims (7)

 1. Frozen breads or blocks as defined in any one of claims 5 to 5 of the main patent, characterized in that they are made from cosmetic substances or combinations of cosmetic substances which have undergone need is a chemical or physical treatment and may contain excipients, preservatives and / or perfumes.  2.- frozen loaves or blocks according to claim 1, characterized in that they are based on mixtures, emulsions or suspensions of raw materials which, in a conventional presentation, would be unstable or incompatible with each other and that they may be present at low levels of antioxidants, preservatives and emulsifiers.  3.- breads or frozen blocks according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that they contain unsaturated fatty substances.  4. Frozen breads or blocks according to any one of claims 1 to 5 of the main patent and 1 to 3 of this Addition certificates characterized by the fact that they are kept in their freezing molds, which can be closed by a lid with a tongue on the outside allowing the gripping without contact with the cosmetic substances, and internally a support of said block.  5. Frozen breads or blocks according to any one of claims 1 to 5 of the main patent and 1 to 3 of this Certificate of Addition characterized by.the fact that they are molded in receptacles of the "stick" type.  6. A method of packaging blocks or loaves as defined in any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that it consists in casting or compressing in appropriate molds the chosen cosmetic substance or the chosen combination of cosmetic substances, and to refrigerate rapidly and intensively until complete freezing, between 25 C and -80 C (dry ice).  7. A process according to claim 6, characterized in that the mixture, emulsion or suspension of the raw materials has previously been carried out by appropriate mechanical means (turbines, mixers, keeping the mixture of constituents at a temperature close to the limit of its solidification point, the mixture being cast as soon as the homogenization is sufficient.
