Abstract

The tyre body is fitted with fold away nails. These can also protrude. Inside the body is a membrane (5) which defines a peripheral, inflatable, cavity (6). This communicates with a valve (7) separate from the normal one (11) for tyre (3) inflation. The membrane has nails (9) fixed in it and their shanks are guided across the tread (4). Under pressure in the cavity, the nails break through the depressions (10) in the tread and form an anti skid surface. The valve (7) connects with the cavity (6) by a channel (8) in a radial bead (12) in one side wall (2).

Claims

1.
