Abstract

The device automatically operates upon the passage of e.g. a human or animal and has a chassis which is e.g. stirrup shape, secured on a conventional switch. The chassis supports an axle supplied with one or more cam surfaces e.g. in the form of a helix on the axle. The helix overlies the switch actuation button in the form of a rocker-type button, in order that upon rotation of the axle in one direction, the helix trips the button and resets the latter on reverse rotation. A semi-rigid or rigid detector element rod is connected to the axle so that contact of a human or animal with the element rotates the axle to actuate the switch. Friction of the axle mounting may be predetermined to set the sensitivity of the device and act as a brake.
