Abstract

The turning key or crank has an inner tube with the key at one end. The tube slides inside a larger tube which has the operating handle at its far end. A fixing screw is threaded into the outer tube so that it tightens onto the inner tube. The inner tube may contain a groove onto which the screw locates. Other forms of clamping the two tubes may be employed such as a peg engaging in one of a series of holes along the length of the inner tube. The peg may be designed to be spring loaded so that it automatically slots with a locking position.

Si elle est courte, elle possbdera moins de puissance pour une force donnée appliquée à la poignée, mais pourra être tournée plus rapidement qu'une manivelle plus longue qui possèdera plus de puissance pour la mQme force donnée appliquée à la poignée, mais qui ne pourra etre tournée aussi rapidement. La manivelle extensible à verrouillage dans plusieurs lon gueurs d'utilisation permet de combiner en une seul réalisation les avantages d'ulle manivelle courte et de manivelles plus longues. La dite manivelle se compose principalement d'une partie male coulissant dans une partie femelle et d'un systhme de verrouillage permettant d'immobiliser la partie male b 1'intérieur de la partie femelle dans différentes positions et d'obtenir par ce procédé différents écartements entre les deux extrémités, la partie Semelle (ou la partie mâle) portant une poignée et la partie mâle (ou la partie femelle) comportant soit un toton male ou un embout femelle adapté à l'axe de la machine qu'on désire faire tourner, et partant différents rayons d'encombrement et différentes puissances pour une même force donnée appliquée à la poignée. Leurs dimensions respectives permettent à la partie male de coulisser librement dans la partie femelle avec le moins de jeu possible. ( Pig. 1)
Afin d'empêcher, pendant utilisation, la sortie intempestive de la partie mie, celle-ci comporte une gorge ou rainure sur une des faces et dont la longueur correspond aux deux positions courte et longue de la manivelle, sans tenir compte des positions intermédiaires. Une vis située dans la partie femelle et dont la tête est à l'extérieur et l'autre extrémité fait sailli à l'intérieur et entre dans la gorge ou rainure.( Fig. 2).En dévissant cette vis on peut faire sortir la partie mâle de la partie femelle pour nettoyage, graissage ou réparation du système de verrouillage.

Le système de verrouillage sera choisi en fonction de 1' utilisation, mais il est évident qu'un systame permettant d'une seule main de verrouiller, déverrouiller et de modifier la longueur sera préférable (système Fig.-a, 3, 4, 5 et 6).
