Abstract

The circlip (8) has a trapezoidal section and engages with a matching groove in the shaft or bearing (4). It is fitted with the aid of circlip pliers using holes (12). Additionally, the circlip has two diametrically opposed lugs (13) with holes (14) so that, after assembly, it can be screwed or bolted to the casing (3). A clearance is provided between the hole and the bolt in order not to constrain the circlip and affect it's location in the groove. This principle may also be used for circlips fitting into an internal groove when the fixing lugs will be towards the inside.
