Abstract

The righting weight consists of a flexible container (2) which is slung across the lowest part of the vessel (1). The container is filled with water and spans the max. width of the vessel. The presence of the container, when the vessel has capsized, produces a righting couple which increases when the craft is off the level position due to the water flowing on one side by distorting the flexible container. The flexible container is fitted with filling and draining connections and auxiliary floats are fitted for stability during filling.
