Abstract

The facial respiratory mask consists of a folded sheet of flexible material square or rectangular in the flat state. It is held on the face of the wearer by two elastic loops (8,9), the first joining its two top corners together and running imm immediately above the ears. The second joins the two bottom corners and fits below the ears and the occiput. The loops can be formed by lengths of elastic material whose ends are gripped in the loops at the mask corners.

Description

The present invention relates to a facial breathing mask intended to be worn by a user with a view to filtering the inspired and / or exhaled air, in particular under special conditions during which the respiratory tracts of said user must be isolated. from the outside or vice versa in which a septic environment in which said user is located must be preserved from the source of contamination constituted by the breathing of the latter.

It relates more particularly to a disposable type facial breathing mask made of a non-woven material. Such a mask may consist of a sheet of nonwoven material which comprises a plurality of parallel pleats forming bellows intended to be arranged transversely to the face and at least the edges of which are transverse to said bellows. Thus, such a mask is presented flat, but when it is desired to use it, it can, thanks to the bellows, take up volume to adapt to the portion of the user's face comprising the nose, the mouth and possibly the chin.

However, to take its shape on the face of the user, it is necessary that the four corners of the mask are well applied to this face. I1 follows that if the mask fixing means are constituted by two lateral elastic loops each passing around an ear of the user, the wearing of said mask quickly becomes unbearable because of the relatively large tension of said loops, necessary to tackle the corners of the mask on the face.

The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback.

To this end, the respiratory mask according to the invention consisting of a sheet of flexible filter material, pleated and appearing flat at least approximately in the form of a square or a rectangle, is remarkable in that its means of attachment to the face of a user are constituted by two elastic loops, the first of which connects the upper corners of the mask and is intended to pass just above the ears, while the second connects the lower corners of the mask and is intended to pass under the ears and the occiput.

Thus, one can give said loops the appropriate tension to properly apply the corners of the mask to the face, without making the wearing of the mask unpleasant because then, instead of taking support behind the ears, the loops take support behind the head.

In known manner, the edges of the mask are advantageously braided; it is then advantageous for the elastic loops to be formed by a section of elastic link, the ends of which are secured to the corners of said mask by imprisonment in the loop. Preferably, said links are trapped in the transverse loop portions of the mask.

The figures of the appended drawing will make it clear how the invention can be implemented.

The mask 1 according to the invention, shown by these figures, is of the disposable type and it is produced in a sheet 2 of nonwoven material comprising a plurality of overlapping folds 3, so as to form bellows.

The mask 1 has a rectangular shape and the folds 3 are parallel to the long sides of the mask. The edges of the mask are bordered by lateral strap portions 4 and 5 which maintain the arrangement of the folds 3 and by transverse strap portions 6 and 7.

The upper portion of transverse loop 6 traps, near its ends, the ends of an elastic link 8. Likewise, the lower portion of transverse loop 7 traps, near its ends, the ends of an elastic link 9 .

Thus, as shown in FIG. 2, the mask 1 is applied to the face of a user thanks to the combined action of a first loop, constituted by the link 8, passing just above the ears of said user, and a second loop, formed by the link 9, passing under said ears and the occiput of the user. The mask is therefore firmly applied to the user's face, without being annoying, inconvenient or unpleasant to wear.

1.- Facial respiratory mask consisting of a sheet of flexible filter material, pleated and appearing flat at least approximately in the form of a square or a rectangle, characterized in that its means of attachment to the face d 'a user are constituted by two elastic loops, the first connects the upper corners of the mask and is intended to pass just above the ears, while the second connects the lower corners of the mask and is intended to pass under the ears and the occasion. 2.
