Abstract

Compsn. comprises in aq. medium a petroleum wax, a gasoline fraction which is a cold solvent for the wax, at least one non-cationic surfactant, an antistatic agent and opt. a perfume. It is prepd. by forming in the cold a medium contg. the wax, solvent and part of the surfactant and also a soln. of the rest of the surfactant in water. The two parts are mixed and then mixed with the other ingredients. Compsn. is used for polishing automobiles and floors. It may be applied to large areas at a time, is easily applied and prepd. and is not affected by weather variations.

Description

The present invention relates to a polishing protective composition, applicable in particular to the conditioning and maintenance of motor vehicle bodies as well as floor coverings. The invention further covers a method of manufacturing such a composition.

 In the field of the bodywork of motor vehicles in particular, numerous struggling compositions based on wax are known which, if they give the suitable result in the final appearance, are however of a long and delicate application. Indeed, at the present time, the buffing of a bodywork must take place between successive small surfaces, the overlaps of which are often visible and, above all, protected from too intense heat such as exposure to the sun. . In addition, the polishing obtained quickly deteriorates with bad weather and requires repeated operations. The same is true in the case of certain floor coverings, in particular glazed or unglazed tiles.

 The composition according to the invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by providing a composition with a stable formulation, combining on the one hand good protection and polishing properties and, on the other hand, great ease of application, over large areas. , whatever the ambient temperature, including in direct sunlight.

The composition according to the invention is essentially characterized in that it comprises, in an aqueous medium, a wax derived from petroleum, a cold solvent for said wax in the form of a diesel cut, at least one surfactant. non-cationic active ingredient and an antistatic agent, and optionally a perfume.

 The constituents of the above composition have the double advantage in particular of not requiring any heating to obtain said composition and of constituting no harmful or aggressive product with regard in particular to metallic paints for coachwork.

 The process for manufacturing the composition according to the invention is essentially characterized in that a medium containing the wax in its solvent is produced separately and at cold temperature in the presence of a first fraction of surfactant, a solution in a strip of a second fraction of surfactant and that the two media thus obtained are mixed cold while introducing the antistatic agent as well as, optionally, a perfume or a mixture of perfumes.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly from the description which follows, given by way of illustrative example, but not limiting.

 As mentioned above, the wax used in the composition according to the invention is a petroleum derivative and, therefore, does not contain silicones which could lead to the formation of cracked layers due to their lack of flexibility. Furthermore, with a view to using the composition on metallic paints, the usual "White-Spirit" solvent, which is harmful to them, should be avoided.

In addition, with a view to producing an economical manufacture of the composition, in particular in the context of energy savings, attempts have been made to use a cold solvent for this wax.

A global formulation suitable for the composition according to the invention thus comprises the following constituents, formulation in which the parts are given by weight
Wax powder: 250 parts
Solvent: 75 parts
Surfactant: 100 parts
Water: 1250 parts
Antistatic: 50 parts
The main characteristics and trade names of the various constituents are indicated below
- Wax: petroleum product "Ceresin" powder
- Solvent: diesel cut "Solpar" 250-300
- Surfactant: mixture of anionic and non-ionic (non-cationic) agents "Tensiofix DI" and "Tensiofix BS"
- Antistatic: surfactant and emulsifier "Tensoxid C20".

Although the above composition is practically odorless, it can also be perfumed, for example by means of 10 parts of "Snoopy 2887 / M" and lu parts of "Larch
CS / 22 345t.

For the manufacture of the composition, the procedure is carried out according to the invention in the following manner
1) The wax powder is poured, cold, in the solvent with vigorous stirring, then a first fraction of surfactant is introduced, preferably "Tensiofix D1" (1) which is not very miscible with water and miscible in hydrocarbons
2) The mixture of water and the second fraction of surfactant, preferably "Tensiofix Bs" (2) which is miscible with water in the proportions used, is produced separately, when cold.
3) The two media obtained are mixed with vigorous stirring, then the antistatic and, if necessary, the perfumes are introduced. It is advantageous to then continue the agitation for 30 minutes.

We can thus make the following composition
Ceresin: 250 parts
Solpar: 1750 games
Tensiofix D1 (I): 70 parts
Water: 1250 parts
Tensiofix BS (2): 30 parts
Tensoxid: 50 parts
Snoopy: 10 games
Larch: 10 parts
The composition thus obtained is stable and can be immediately packaged in suitable applicator containers, for example spray bottles.

Protective and polishing composition, comprising a wax and its solvent, characterized in that the wax is a petroleum derivative and in that it comprises, in an aqueous medium, said wax, a cold solvent for the latter in the form a cut of diesel, at least one non-cationic surfactant and an antistatic agent, as well as possibly a perfume.  2. Composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the solvent is a section of diesel fuel 250300. 3. Composition according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that it corresponds to the following formulation, in parts by weight  wax: 250; solvent: 1750; surfactant (1): 70 water: 1250; surfactant (2): 30; antistatic: 50 fragrance: 20. 4. Composition according to claim 3, characterized in that the surfactant (1) is little miscible with water and miscible in hydrocarbons, and that the surfactant (2) is miscible with water in proportions used. 5. Method of manufacturing a composition according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that one carries out separately and cold a medium containing the wax in its solvent in the presence of a first fraction of surfactant, a solution in water of a second fraction of surfactant and which is mixed in cold with the two media thus obtained while introducing antistatic agent as well as, optionally, a perfume or a mixture of perfumes.
