Abstract
The articulated lever provides the axial movement for the shaft of an engine starter motor. The lever system consists basically of two flat metal strips overcoming the complexity etc. of orthodox systems. One (8) of the two levers is fixed to the shaft (6) of the solenoid mechanism and is cut-away at its free end to engage with the second lever (7) which extends into the normal slot on the starter motor shaft. The fixed strip has a slot (8F) between the engagement point with this latter lever and its root, this traps a spring (9a) with a hooped end preventing any radial movement. Engagement between the two parts is by a slot (7a) in the second lever cut-away to form two diagonally opposed quarter circles (7b) and slots (8d,8e) in the first such that relative up and down and 90 deg. radial movement is possible.
