Abstract

The diaphragm clutch has a cover plate, connected to the drive shaft, a diaphragm and a pressure plate connected to the driven shaft. The pressure plate rotates with the cover plate but is free to move axially relative to it. The diaphragm comprises an outer section in the form of a spring washer with an internal section consisting of radial spokes. The diaphragm retention lugs are formed from stamped cut-outs in the cover plate. These have a groove formed on a line along which they are folded to form the retention clip. The groove facilitates the bending of the lug.
