Abstract

In the mfr. of a filament yarn, which can be texturised, the filaments are so arranged that there are >=20 braided sections per metre along its length. One group of filaments between each adjacent pair of braided sections has different boiling shrinkage characteristics for the filaments individually and among themselves. The structure gives a K value of is not >1 in the formula: where 11 is the length of the braided section, and 12 the length of unbraided section between each. The yarn can be woven or knitted into a fabric with a silken character, which accepts dye consistently without flecks, which can be produced on compact equipment under stable conditions.
