Abstract

The system comprises a flexible pipe (1) and a hollow frusto-conical member (2) threaded on it. The narrow end (3) of the member (2) has an internal diameter equal to the external diameter able to accommodate the folded over end of the flexible pipe. The closure system has particular application in the closure of surgical drainage pouches. The system is used by folding over the opened end of the pipe and sliding the frusto-cone down the pipe so that the folded-over end enters the wide mouth. The cone is forced down the pipe and progressively compresses it.
