Abstract
Control circuit for synchronous motors having two inductor windings normally displaced electrically by 30 degrees in three-phase systems. The circuit ensures a smooth motor couple characteristics during start-up overcoming D.C. supply effects in the thyristors normally used. The windings (MS) are fed from two separate thyristor oscillators (2,3) which themselves are fed from the output of a supply rectifier (5) and from an initiating circuit (4). This has two thyristors (6,7) in series across the common supply, their common point (8) feeding the centre-tap of a common inductance (9). The inductance has the effect of roughly doubling the circulating current in one oscillator compared to the other. The high mutual inductance between the two halves of the inductance ensures that the second thyristor is extinguished correctly.
