Abstract

The compound piston block (1) converts reciprocal linear displacements into shaft rotation. It is in one piece with piston heads (2) at two opposite axial extremities. The piston heads have circumferential grooves for packing rings. The block may be of a straight round section with a head at each axial extremity. The heads are connected by four uniformly distributed longitudinal bars. Alternatively the unit may have an 'H' shape with a head at the end of each leg, and two units may be connected to obtain a four head (2) block (1).
