Abstract

A device for radiant heat treatment of fabrics may be used during fabric finishing to polymerise pigment colours, to fix plastosoluble dyes or to decompose treated cellulose fibres in a mixed fibre fabric. The device comprises a rotary cylinder whose circumference is briefly in contact with the fabric under treatment at a controlled temp. to effect te chemical reaction. Prior to their decomposition, the fibres are treated by printing or coating with a 'burn out' paste. The device eliminates the browning of fibres during the 'burning out' process, and thus cuts costs connected with the final optical bleaching usually required.
