Abstract

The vehicle cigar lighter has an outer casing (4) fitting into an aperture in the dashboard and receiving a removable heating element. The outer casing (4) can be fixed in a required axial position within the aperture via a fixing device, which comprises a sleeve (5) within the casing (4) having an annular shoulder (7) surrounding the open end of the casing (4). The sleeve (5) has at least one notch defining an axial resilient tongue extending from the shoulder (7) and engaging the peripheral edge of the dashboard aperture. The casing (4) includes a counter element which prevents the tongue being bent inwards. Pref. each tongue has a triangular cross-section and is contacted by a nose projection (15) extending radially outwards from the casing (4) to secure the tongue in position. The end of the projection (15) is pref. held in a groove (14) formed in the tongue.
