Abstract

Rod is produced from Fe ore by extrusion in which the ore is processed into a concentrate, the concentrate is transformed into an agglomerate, which is passed through a furnace contg. a reducing gas, and a reduced agglomerate is extruded. The extrudate can be rolled or forged. The extrudate may be sheathed, the sheath consisting of e.g. stainless steel, which is suitable as reinforcing rod exposed to corrosive atmos.
