Abstract

The racing circuit for model electric cars consists of a single track which has a power supply and a return conductor and which branches into two parallel tracks (11) over part of its length. The cars are directed onto a selected one of the twin tracks by a triangular shaped "points" pivotable adjacent its base to close one and open the other of the twin tracks. The power supply enables independent control of two cars and comprises a mains transformer (27) with a secondary winding (29) one end of which is electrically connected to a respective conductor (10) of each of the twin tracks. The other winding end connects with the centre of a rectifier circuit (34) of four series-connected diodes (35). Opposite ends of the circuit (34) are both connected through respective potentiometers (39) to each of the other conductors (9) of the twin tracks to supply separate positive and negative voltages to the tracks. Suitable connections and diodes on the car motors allow control of one by the negative voltage and the other by the positive voltage.
