Abstract

A gas tap in the supply to a burner, such as a cooker, is compact and contains safety devices such as an electrovalve and a thermocouple. A mechanical control is required to be operated to open the electrovalve until the thermocouple maintains it open. A gas tap is mounted onto a gas inlet pipe (6) by a mounting (5) which comprises a half collar (5a) and connecting section (5b) which penetrates the inlet pipe. A complementary half collar ensures that it is firmly attached. The electromagnet of an electrovalve (4) is connected to a thermocouple adjacent to the burner assembly in order that the burning gas maintains the valve in the opening position. The valve is held open by hand operation via the tap control shaft (2) to which a mechanical connection is attached.
