Abstract
Articles are mfd. from sheet metal by detonating an explosive charge which forces the metal to conform to the shape of a die. The excess energy of the explosion is absorbed by a mixture of water and chips of ice. After the explosive forming of an article the mixture of water and ice slides down a chute into a tank where the remaining ice is melted by a heater coil. The water is then pumped back to a refrigeration plant for re-conversion to ice. The water from the condenser of the refrigeration plant is used in the heater coil and so conserves energy.
