Abstract

The cylindrical electric plug includes a larger dia. portion by which it may be gripped, and a narrower dia. portion forming the male terminal. The cylindrical terminal is cut by two perpendicular slots (2, 3) extending parallel to the axis of the cylinder, thus leaving four quarter section parts to the terminal, (4, 5, 6, 7). The metal used for the plug has a certain elasticity so that when it fits into a socket the four parts grip the sides of the socket. In order to increase the elasticity of the plug, and ensure a constant spacing between them, an elastic cylinder is fitted to the control space between the four parts. A hole (8) is drilled axially in the plug terminal, and split cylindrical peg (9) is put into this position. This cylindrical peg (9) gives increased mechanical strength and prevents the four parts of the plug being bent inwards in use.
