Abstract

A solid prod. is claimed contg. pref. 0.1-40 (0.2-20)wt.% hydrogenated starch hydrolysate, esp. sorbitol, present as constituent paticles which are fixed or retained on a carrier. The prod. is prepd. by (a) rotary drying, extrusion, powdering or atomising the hydrogenated starch hydrolysate in the presence of the carrier; and opt. (b) grinding to the desired particle size. Fixing on carrier widens the use range of the non-crystallisable hydrolysate. Prod. can be used (i) as food for human or animal nutrition, e.g. as a moisture in fruit-cake prepn., (ii) as a sizing, auxiliary for textile or paper industry and (iii) in casting.
