Abstract

The upper surface of the belt travels over a row of suction boxes, and a mixt. of ore and fuel is fed onto one end of the belt so it travels through part (A1) of a baking zone for removal of water, and then part (A2) where sintering is completed. The sinter next enters a cooling zone which is divided into at least two parts (b1, B2). Gases drawn out of zone (A1) by the suction boxes are treated for dust extn. and removal of condensate, and are then fed into the last cooling zone (B2). Zone (A1) pref. has a length designed to collect gases with average temp. 90 degrees C, and the pref. plant includes suction boxes divided into four gps. the gp. on zone (A1) being fitted with a cyclone separator removing dust and condensed liqs. Used in the sintering of iron ore which will subsequently be fed into a blast furnace, where the amt. of gas discharged to the environment is reduced.
