Abstract

Embossing process involves feeding a web (1) via a transport roller set (2, 3) in which the web is stuck to a second web (4) previously coated with an adhesive layer through coating rollers (7). The webs pass through a 'soaking' stage (8) between roller pairs and thence over further roller pairs (10, 11) to web tensioning rollers (12). The duplex web passes through an additional dampening or drying station (17) for controlling the web stress. A sensor (18) detects web markings to monitor web speed and compares these with circumferential speed of the straining roller (13). The stress in the web can be adjusted using the tensioning roller pair (12).
