Abstract

Method for treating especially paperboard with a surface sizing agent and, if desired, also with a coating mix. The method is also suited for the treatment of paper. In the method, the web (3) is taken to a coating arrangement comprising two applicator rolls (1, 2) by means of guide devices (9) and treating agent is applied onto both sides of the web. The web (3) is guided into the nip between the two applicator rolls (1, 2) and in the nip, a layer of treating agent is applied onto one of its sides by the film transfer method, while a layer is simultaneously applied to the other side by the pond application method. In this manner a large amount of treating agent can be applied onto the web and the coater offers good runnability.
