Abstract

The post extracting toll uses hydraulic, pneumatic or screw-jacks taking a grip on the base of the post and utilising the ground to provide the jacking reaction. A forked base plate straddles the post section and transmits jacking forces to the ground, providing support for a prim. jack which supplies the extraction effort. Pincer arms mounted on the body of the jack are actuated by a sec. jack with articulated mountings, and take a grip on the post base. A vertical extension of the prim. jack is resisted by the pincer grip and the base plate, thus, effecting post extraction.
