Abstract

The torque multiplier comprises a short arm (2), fitted to the original pedal arm. The orginal pedals are removed and a pin (1) and a ball bearing (3) is fitted in place of each, forming a pivot for the new short arm. A pedal (4, 5, 6) is refitted to the end of each short arm in the normal way. When pedalling, the short arm pivots outwards to form an extension and multiply (A+X) the torque applied in the pushing downwards position. In the opposing position, the torque is reduced (A-X as the short arm decreases the pedal arm distance.
