Abstract

The tool (10) is intended for removing a tyre from a wheel rim. It comprises a lift-off portion (14) to bring into engagement with the tyre bead adjacent to the edge of the wheel rim, and a device to transmit lift-off pressure to the tool. The portion (14) engages the tyre at two circumferentially spaced points (15, 16), and the tool is provided with a contoured (18, 19) element (17). The contours are such that, after the initial movement of the portion (14) in axial and radially inward direction to initially free the bead, the element (17) engages the rim edge, thereby limiting the radially inward movement and preventing contact with the bead seating surface of the rim.
