Abstract
Assembly bench where an operator under the guidance of a programmed light beam inserts components into a PCB. Components are offered in synchronism with the light beam which identifies the hole or holes into which the component leads must be inserted. The PCB (5) is laid on an inclined work surface (4). A pillar (8) behind the surfaces housing a laser, a mirror and a stepping motor controlled two part prismatic deflection system. Keyboard control switches (6) and a lever (7) control the deflection system and are used during the setting up operation to identify the holes and the order of use which is memorised and can then be repeated to an operator. Component bins (11) can be similarly identified and can be offered by a rotating system or the bin can be identified by a further light beam.
