Abstract

The block of insulating material (10) is traversed by a hole (11) whose lower portion is of greater dia. than its upper portion, thus providing an interior ledge (12). At right angles to this is a hole (13, 14) whose length and dia. are those of the end of the insulated wire to be connected. A slot (15) is dimensioned to receive the open end (18) of a rigid male conector (16) contg. a hole (17) aligned with the first hole (11) when inserted. A metal plug (20) is traversed by a hole (22) of dia. slightly greater than that of the insulated wire. The end plate (21) of the plug abuts the ledge (12) when the hole is aligned with that in the block (13, 14). Circumferential parallel-sided cutaways (24) extend the holes (22) and have height slightly less than the dia. of the core of the wire to be striped. When block, connector, plug and wire are assembled the plug is turned by a screwdriver in slot (26), through a quarter turn. This strips the insulation against the sides of cutaways (24). The same type of device can be used to connect two flexible wires.
