Abstract
A float and a first valve controlled by the float are arranged to close a first passage connected to the feed line, when the liq. in a reservoir below ground reaches a predetermined level in a device for limiting the filling of the reservoir with an inflammable liq. The filling limiting valve includes a hollow body which has means of connecting it to the feed line, formed by a tubular envelope and a fixed internal tubular core creating an internal chamber, and defining with the tubular envelope an annular section of the first passage. At its downstream end the envelope has in the extension of the wall of the tubular core, a seat for the first valve. This has the form of a cylindrical sliding body moving in the first internal chamber, so as to shut off selectively, radial openings formed in the wall of the tubular core. A second cylindrical valve is arranged so as to slide in the first cylindrical valve so as to selectively close a second passage formed in the first valve; the second valve being controlled by the float so as to shut off the second passage, when the liq. reaches a second predetermined level higher than the first level. It provides an automatic filling limiting device which is fully reliable and gives added security. No external source of power is necessary and the device withstands severe loading. The first and second valves are operated by a single float when the liq. reaches the first level, and then the second level, no manual adjustment being necessary.
