Abstract
The bin uses retaining walls of a sectional precast concrete construction tied by in situ concrete ground beams. It inc. a high level tipping platform together with closed vertical wall slots (V) for drainage, and may be used for the out-door storage of sand or agricultural produce. The construction process is initiated by digging a perimeter trench (t) in which is placed 100mm thick square concrete pads (4) at regular intervals. The pads receive the ends of the precast reinforced concrete wall panels (7) whose bases are then secured by filling the trench with concrete (5). A concrete floor (S) is cast as a final operation, the edge zones accommodating starter bars (6) projecting from the wall panels.
