Abstract
The electro pneumatic control device for the air brakes of rail vehicles has a relay valve (13) controlling the pressure in the main air line (19), which valve is in turn controlled by the pressure in a control vessel (20). In normal operation randomly energisable solenoid valves (9, 10, 11) monitor the pressure in the control vessel (20); in emergency operation, should the solenoid valves (9, 10, 11) fail, the pressure in the main air line (19) can be monitored by way of an additional brake valve (1, 1') which in normal operation serves for direct control of the brake cylinder pressure. A reversing valve, which can be set to a normal and an emergency switch position is provided, by means of which, in the emergency switch position, the pressure controls of the additional brake valve (1, 1') are either reversed in their action for the brake pressure connection (4, 4') or are shifted to reverse running pressure admission in the main air line (19). Provision can be made for three shuttle valves (24, 31, 37), which are inserted between the additional brake valve (1, 1') and the brake cylinder (27), a compressed air source with pressure reducing valve (14 and 15), a vent (29) and the control air vessel (20) or the main air line (19). The design of the reversing valve results in identical actuating directions on the additional brake valve (1, 1') for the brake control processes both in normal and in emergency operation.
