Abstract
The adjustable transformer is used to drive a model electric train system. It prevents serious heating as a result of an internal short-circuit. The short circuit occurs as a result of a defective blocking diode. A bridge rectifier is connected to the secondary winding of the transformer and the output voltage can be switched from half wave to full wave. The second winding is made with tappings based on the full wave rectification. There are fuses connected between the arms of the bridge and in the connection between the arms and the tapping points of the secondary winding. The fuses are in series with the diodes of the bridge rectifier. In the event of an internal short circuit, they will prevent any output from the bridge terminals.
