Abstract

The safety device for the delivery end of an endless conveyor which may have hirozontally travelling conveying slats (13) has a tilting plate (14) mounted across the slats where they pass around the return drum. If the fingers of a person alongside are placed on the plate so that they could be trapped by the slats as they travel inside the casing, the plate tilts and stops the drive. Articles conveyed by the slats pass over the plate and are supported clear of it by take off rollers (4) at the end of the casing, so that it is not operated by the articles. The plate is tilted downwards against the force of a return spring (28), sot hat an arm (16) is swung about a pivot axis (A) below. This swings a lower extension (30) carrying a magnetic contact piece away from a switch (31) controlling the power supply to the drive motor.
