Abstract
An ion-exchange desalting method uses ion-exchange resin particles contg. both free acid type weak acidic gp. and carbonate type weak basic gp. in the same particle. The particles are contacted with aq. soln. contg. salt of strong acid to effect desalting. The particles having weak acidic gp. in salt type and the weak basic gp. converted into strong acid salt type are heated to convert them into free acid type and free base type respectively, then contacted with carbonic acid to convert the weak basic gp. part into carbonate type. The regenerated resin particles are then reused. The desalting capacity per unit amt. of ion-exchange resin particles is higher and the salt concn. of the treated desalted water is lower than by using known heat regeneration process desalting methods.
