Abstract

The double lid is preferably used for closing a hot cell and a container which can be adjoined thereto for radioactive or toxic material. It comprises an outer lid for the cell opening and an inner lid, connectable to said outer lid in a gastight manner by externally actuable means, for the container opening. In its centre the inner lid has a tightly inserted bushing (1) which has a collar (10) intended for mutual locking of inner and outer lids. In applications where the container does not require a non-positive lid closure, an inner lid is proposed in which the bushing (1) has the form of a cup, the inner space (2) of which, open only towards the outer lid, has on the cup base (3) a conical depression (4) for centring the inner lid with respect to the outer lid. The catch mechanism provided in other cases is dispensed with and hence the problem of sealing the means for its actuation, where they pass through the bushing is overcome.
