Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé pour préparer un éther d'amidon hydroxypropylé dispersable dans l'eau froide obtenu par réaction d'une base d'amidon granulaire, ayant une teneur en humidité de 6-20 % par rapport au poids d'amidon, avec environ 15-50 % d'oxyde de propylène en poids. Ce procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: a. Imprégnation de ladite base d'amidon avec environ 0,25-5,0 %, par rapport au poids de ladite base d'amidon sec, d'un sel catalyseur sous forme de solution aqueuse, ledit sel étant un sel de métal alcalin ou alcalino-terreux, soluble dans l'eau, d'un acide carboxylique qui est non substitué ou alkyle- ou hydroxysubstitué, n'ayant pas plus de 20 atomes de carbone au total et, s'il est aliphatique, ayant de 1 à 6 atomes de carbone dans sa chaîne primaire ; et b. Mise en oeuvre de ladite réaction en présence dudit sel. Utilisation du produit à base d'amidon ainsi obtenu à des fins alimentaires.
