Abstract

The device is used for damping the wind stimulated vibration of a v.h.f. antenna. It is preferably injection moulded in one piece from resilient plastics material such as polyethylene, acetobutyrostyrene (A.B.S.) or "nylon" (RTM) and comprises a shaft (16) one end of which is formed as a plug (15) and the other end of which is formed as an inertia block (17). The device is inserted coaxially into the end of a tubular element (1) (typically 12-15 mm diameter) of the antenna with the plug (15) sealing the end of the element (1). The inertia block (17) is retained centrally of the tubular element (1) by four radial projections (18). One such device may be inserted in the end of each antenna element. A simpler device consists of a plug with a rod projecting coaxially therefrom.
