Abstract
Appts. for thermal exchange and gas-liquid sepn. comprises a bundle of parallel tubes inclined from upstream to down stream. The upstream end is connected to a distributor compartment to receive the liq. phase charged with gas. The downstream end is connected to a collector compartment provided with an outlet for gas at the upper part and an outlet for degassed liq. phase at the lower part. The tubes are contd. in an enclosure fitting with means of circulating a cooling or a heating fluid. The dia. of the tubes, their slope and the feed rate are pref. such that the free surface of the liq. phase is about at the middle of the height of the tubes. The tubes are pref. in the form of hair-pins and their upstream and downstream ends are connected to the same tube-plate defining the compartments which are sepd. by a partition transverse to the tube plate. The wt. and cost of the appts. are much smaller than those of existing appts. for a given power and press.
