Abstract

The blow-off valve is used to drain condensation from a steam carrying pipe line. It comprises a housing of three demountably connected parts, for filtering, gathering and discharging of condensed water. A hollow cylindrical body (1) receives a cover (3) and a base (2). The cover incorporates co-axial outlet (5) and inlet (4) formations, and the base incorporate filter (13) and chamber (12). The inlet accepts a branch from a main pipe line while the outlet discharges to the atmosphere, and a link pipe (11) leads incoming steam through the filter (13) to issue (19) in the chamber under a bell housing (6). The housing includes a roof aperture (18) and cyclically fills with condensation whilst maintaining an upward pressure which closes a lever valve (8-10) controlling the outlet. Having accumulated a certain quantity of condensation the housing drops causing the valve to open and condensation to discharge.
