Abstract

The laminated mirror consists of a front piece of glass (4) coated on its rear surface with a layer (5) of silver; and layer (5) is covered by an opaque masking layer (6) followed by a plastic bonding layer (2) and then a second sheet of glass (3). Layer (6) pref. has an absorption coefft. for white light of >=60%, and pref. contains a dark pigment. Layer (2) is pref. a transparent polyvinyl-butyral foil; and the Ag(5) pref. has a coefft. of reflection of 35-85%, esp. 40-65%. The laminated mirror (2-6) pref. has a trunnion on each end in a frame, so the mirror can be rotated 180 degrees; in this way, either the Ag(5) or layer (6) reflects light.
