Abstract

The mechanism spreads out bars aligned with each other from a bundle into a hopper. One of the hopper walls is formed by a drum turning in a direction opposite to that in which the bars travel. The gap between the bottom of the drum and the hopper base can be slightly wider than the diameter of a bar, so that only one can pass through at a time. The drum can be arranged so as to cause the bars to roll against each other and thus arrange themselves in line opposite the gap, so that bar bundles can be loaded into the hopper without special precautions.
