Abstract
The light source comprises a bowl reflector having an overall dia. is not >60 mm. and a single ended discharge lamp sealed into the reflector. The lamp has a fill including Ar, Hg and >=1 (pref. 3) metal halides, and is designed for A.C. operation. The halides are pref. Ga, Th and Na iodides. The lamp pref. has a specific wall loading of 40-60W/cm2 and includes two similar overwound W electrodes. The lamp has good efficacy and good colour rendition and provides a brighter image on the screen. It is small enough to fit into the limited space available on this type of projector. Life is pref. >500 hr., esp. about 1000 hr.
