Abstract

The source comprises a bowl reflector 10 with the same overall dimensions as those currently used with tungsten-halogen lamps and a single-ended metal halide discharge lamp 11 sealed through a collar 12 at the back of the reflector. The lamp has identical overwound tungsten electrodes 13 and operates on A.C. A multi-component fill enables the achievement of high efficacy and good colour rendering at a specific wall loading of about 50 watt/cm<2> with a lamp life of as much as 1000 hours. <IMAGE>
